Snakes and Ladders

Well...
If you want to teach a life lesson just put it right in a child’s game
Just set the odds against the rest
they’ll fight to claim
You can’t win if you don’t play can you?
Well...
If you’d take my advice you’d might try some vices and virtues
It’s true
Pretend its fair so those below deserve to be there
Poor kids can then become the villain
Run
Run for your life you a worthless piece of scum
I question everything humanity has ever done
Weeeeeellllllll...................
If this seems to ring a bell
I can tell you’ve felt
for another
hindsight in mind
What will you teach
About the other
its rigged or just repeat your father?
Take a right
Snakes and ladders
Life’s a game and you have to play don’t you
Sometimes you fall into the snakepit and crawl around in misery
Or you’re handed a ladder and scale a wall
But wait there’s surprises around every corner
Your head start out of the gate was planned
By the gate keepers and ticket takers
You wanna play?
Where’s your ticket?
What does the board game say about morality today
Replace their values to create disgrace
You can’t win if you don’t play can you

Barshigaye? Behek.
I.
Mama, I’m leaving now
The train is calling me
I’m following my dreams of a better life
for all of us
I promise I’ll send money every third Tuesday
on the dime
They pay by the hour there
Don’t worry mama
I’ll come back for you
While I’m gone when you look up at the night sky
and see those stars
Know that I’m thinking of you
But for now
I’m off to chase the sun
II.
I’m so close I can taste it
My knuckles dig into the dirt below me
Dragged by my ankles
thrown into a van
I sleep on concrete
Spend weeks in a motel manager’s back room
People watch me
People judge me
They make promises to help me
I cross the line
They crossed the line
Into the desert I find my way
Carrying gallons of water on my back
Through barren wasteland
Mouth parched by heat
I’m being chased by the sun
III.
I don’t believe the lies
That I was told when I was young
This isn’t paradise
Land of sacrifice
I want to take it back
I can’t remember the last time I looked
into my mother’s eyes
Or held my brothers hand
I traded my innocence and childhood
For a clock that never stops, never gets tired
But I do
At night I’m afraid of what might happen to me
I hardly ever see the sun these days
Now I only get to watch the sun set
behind tall buildings
Yeah
We rise above
Walk the horizon
Bending me, breaking me
Testing all that I believe
To the horizon
I claw

The Haves Columbia, South Carolina
This is an 800 pound gorilla clown.
Sometimes it plays rage-tastic quake riffs and smashes up the
room.
Sometimes it plays slimy doom-funk.
Other times it stares into the distance and psychosomatic space waves emanate.
But it always wears a tie and ponders the way the world spins.
